TGIF Challenge #253 - Peaceful Moments Box

March 4, 2020

Hello! This week's TGIF Challenge #253 is a product spotlight challenge: embossing paste. Not a stretch for me because I love the texture of embossing paste!

My project showcases the Peaceful Moments Bundle (#153824), which includes the Peaceful Moments stamp set and the Poppy Moments dies. I have used the shimmery white embossing paste (#145645).

I love the soft look of this project. It's a small little pizza box measuring 3.5 x 3.5" and is perfect for a little treat. While the box may be small, I'm still able to add lots of texture to the top.

The colours are Purple Posy, Highland Heather and Old Olive. The Poppy Moments Dies have a lovely die piece that cuts out an intricate flower pattern which I've used on a scrap of cardstock to create a mask. I've placed the scrap over my Purple Posy square and applied my embossing paste. It's a lovely detail that creates shimmery background texture.

I've stamped splatters along the edge to create more texture. Once the embossing paste was dry, I've glued the square to a larger Highland Heather square and put it to the side.

Assembling the poppy is easy as it's a matter of simply layering the dies as they've been designed. The large background layer of the flower is cut out of vellum so you can see through it and I think, creates a softness to the project. The thin flower overlay is cut in Purple Posy and the centre of the flower in Highland Heather. The pieces are adhered together with glue dots. To add more texture and a splotch of bright colour, I've used a Perennial Essence Floral Center found in the Annual catalogue.

Once the flower is assembled, I've attached all the pieces to the embossed square. The leaves are cut out in Old Olive and Highland Heather cardstock and glued down first. A little length of Scalloped Lace Trim is folded and layered behind the flower. The flower is stuck to down with dimensionals.

Once all the pieces are in place, I've glued the square to the top of the box. The project is finished off with sequins and pearls. Always, sequins and pearls!

I could have created the project without the embossing paste but I love, love, love projects that have lots of layers and textures. The paste gave me an opportunity to use the die cut-out and add a little more sparkle to the project. I love how it turned out and I look forward to surprising someone with it.
